It’s that time of year again when we are presented with more opportunities to dress up than normal.
Our social calendar is much busier and we are certainly under more pressure to add a dollop of glitz and glam to our closet. It can be a little overwhelming trying to choose the right piece or two but take and a deep breath because here are a couple of ideas. Sumptuous velvet is a favourite option of mine this time of year. This red velvet backless dress from Ghost and available exclusively at John Lewis is one great option for party season. I’ve also linked a few other options here too.
Soft to the touch, a velvet dress will always give an extra ounce of sass required for festive dressing.
Remember when choosing something special for party season, make sure you feel comfortable in it, but also that it makes you feel a little more special than normal – that’s the whole point of dressing up after all.

Styling Sequins
I decided to add a chunky knit to this cami dress that I found in Zara (search for cami dress on their website) to make it a little more comfortable for family festivities. The juxtaposition of wool and sequins works very well together. This knit is called the Nina funnel from Wyse London. Just add your favourite heel to finish off the look !
