The New Colbert Restaurant


Every now and then a new restaurant pops up and is much talked about in magazine columns and on social media.
This was one of them, the arrival of the traditional French cafe inspired Cobert and sister restaurant of the Wolseley, promised great things and expectations were high.
Right on Sloane Square and replacing the Oriel restaurant which the Earl of Cadogen and property mogul closed down in 2008 after complaining his lunch was too expensive and not up to standards.
Yes, really !
So the new owners had to be brave and confident about their menu and what their new customers wanted.
It was bustling yesterday when we got a chance to go, full of interesting looking people huddled together on their thick red leather couches and dark old wooden furniture.
We both had egg dishes, scrambled egg with ham and I opted for the eggs benedict.
The bill came to £26, which was not bad at all for delicious food and a big slice of glamour.
